“I was sixteen when I first saw Hollywood in the Summer of 1938. I remember the all-night drive across the desert and crossing the California state line the next morning. It was the Fourth of July, a significant date in American history and certainly in my life.” Veronica Lake
2018 marks the 80th anniversary of Veronica Lake’s arrival in Hollywood and the start of her meteoric film career. Within two years, she was an international movie star and the number one female at the box office, before she walked away from Hollywood for good in the early 1950s.
Following the success of recent films about classic Hollywood actresses Gloria Grahame, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, Little Dude Films believes the time is right for Veronica Lake’s star to shine again, through The Lost Blonde, our feature film about her life, which we plan to make this year.
The script draws upon Veronica’s own reminiscences about her life and those of the co-writer of her autobiography, Donald Bain, who befriended her in her last years and sadly died last October.
Little Dude Films has been joined by experienced producer Tessa Beazley (Red Riding, Hector, Dead Cool) for the feature and we will be keeping you up to date on developments with the project over the coming weeks and months.
